Today was a travel day. Cindy and Son from our walking tour in Istanbul arrived yesterday at the hotel and the three of us are together for this leg. A new guide met us and we started off. In town we picked up a man who would be kind of hitching a ride. He is an archaeologist and needed to go to Urfa to a museum to find out about a missing artifact, if it was stolen or misplaced. He is so interesting and he is the guy doing the excavation on the Roman bath we saw a day or two ago. So we had some great conversation on the way. We stopped along the way to see a building used in the 11th or 12th century as a way station for merchants along the silk road. After stopping for lunch, we got Turkish ice cream. It is made from goats milk and is very thick and sticky. It was delicious! By 5pm we arrived at our hotel. Cindy, Son and I had dinner at the hotel and had an early night. We are meeting at 3am to go to the mountain to see the stone carved heads. It will be worth it!
